L’Amicale de la Nouvelle Orléans
Do you know what it's like to be far from New Orleans? To think of the Big Easy night and day?
L’Amicale does neither, but goes on pretending. And the more she pretends, the more she misses New Orleans ...
Jazz will discover later on free interpretation and technical virtuosity, but at the start, the New Orleans style is accessible and all about dancing. Sometimes frenetic, sometimes romantic, it is this diversity and this energy that excites L'Amicale. Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong are all famous names that inspire the friends of this mythical city. The instruments used by L'Amicale are almost the same as those found in the Dixieland brass bands and the first Jazz orchestras, because L'Amicale wants to stay close to the roots of this particular New Orleans musical genre. The singing, the humour and interaction with the audience are also 100% part of this universe, even with a personal approach ... L’Amicale can perform acoustic or be amplified, standing on stage or walking, outdoors and indoors. Processions, celebrations, concerts ... almost all formulas to swing on the menu!
