Embodijazz

Leon Parker has unleashed a small revolution in the art of drum and body percussion through some beautiful albums as a leader (Above and Below, Awakening and especially Belief), but also as an energetic accompanist. Recognized as one of the important figures of jazz, he soon surpassed all the codes of the genre to make music that is best described as free of any label, being spiritual and contagious. The concerts that Parker performed with just a few drum sticks and one cymbal are legendary. Leon Parker is more than just a drummer. He makes everything vibrate around him and uses his voice and body as percussion instruments.

After four albums under his own name, including two at Columbia, countless concerts and CDs as a sidekick (Dewey Redman, Jacky Terrace, Brad Mehldau, Jesse Davis, Tom Harrell, etc.) - Parker was, for instance, the drummer on the legendary album Choices by son Joshua and father Dewey Redman - and after 15 years of refining and teaching his body rhythm technique, Leon Parker manages to bring a synthesis between jazz tradition and body percussion with his new project. “Embodijazz” is exclusively presented at Brosella and will show five international musicians getting together around a brand new repertoire.
