Vano Bamberger Quintet
(DE/PL/CZ)
Vano Bamberger (lead guitar), Siergiej Wowkotrub (violin), Donani Bamberger (lead guitar), Terrangi Bamberger (rhythm guitar), Antonin Sturma (bass (Prague).
Since spring 2008, Vano Bamberger & Band have been causing quite a sensation in clubs and at renowned festivals in their own countries and abroad.

The German Sinto guitar player Vano Bamberger was born in Hanau, near Frankfurt in 1965. His grandfather Joe Weiss, who lived in France during the Second World War and knew Django Reinhardt at the time, bought him his first guitar. According to traditional Sinti culture, the Bambergers learned to play music by themselves, by oral transmission and not by musical theory. Vano was discovered by the public in 2002, performing alongside Ziroli Winterstein on the album ‘Love Letters’. In 2008, he founded his own quintet, Vano Bamberger & Band. His first solo album was released in 2013 and produced by the renowned Siegfried Maeker. Recently, he was awarded the Main-Kinzig-Kulturpreis, a prize for his contribution to German culture.

For the Djangofolllies, the Bamberger brothers will come accompanied by the Ukrainian violinist Siergiej Wowkotrub. Siergiej received a classical musical training in the Soviet Union and has been living in Poland for about twenty years. Stéphane Grappelli’s influence quickly led him to gypsy jazz.

The music of this group is characterized by a strong temperament and a remarkable energy. There are Eastern and Slav influences that you just never get tired of. This very experienced quintet will awaken the unexpected jazz lover in you!
